Rebuilding of the Ka'bah

When the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was ~35 (~10 years after marrying Khadijah), Quraysh rebuilt the fire- and flood-damaged Ka’bah — and his wisdom averted bloodshed over the Black Stone.

What happened (EP 009)

• Materials came from a wrecked Byzantine ship at Jeddah (marble, wood, a craftsman).
• Clans feared demolishing the House; al-Walid ibn al-Mughira struck first and, unharmed, the others joined. The four walls were divided among the clans.
• Reconstruction changed the House: built square (part of Ibrahim’s foundation left outside as the Hijr Ismail), the door raised, height doubled, a water-spout added.
• Clans nearly fought over who would reset the Black Stone. The elder Abu Umayya proposed letting the next man to enter decide — it was the Prophet ﷺ (al-Amin). He laid the Stone on a cloth, had every clan lift it together, and set it himself.

Significance

Foreshadows his role: uniting the tribes and restoring the religion of Ibrahim (as) upon the same foundation (“La ilaha illa Allah”) with a renewed shariah. Even Abu Jahl insisted only pure earnings fund the House.
