Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (ra)
Ansari host of the Prophet ﷺ in Madinah for six months.

Khalid ibn Zayd of the Banu al-Najjar (Khazraj) — the Ansari who hosted the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in Madinah for about six months while Masjid al-Nabawi and his house were built.
Role in the Seerah (EP 030)
- When the Prophet’s ﷺ camel chose its resting place, he asked which relative’s house was nearest; Abu Ayyub — a distant (≈6th) cousin through the Banu al-Najjar — offered his, and the Prophet ﷺ stayed there.
- Devotion in the narrations: he and his wife insisted on giving up the upper floor so as not to walk above the Prophet ﷺ; they mopped a spilled water-jar all night to keep it from dripping on him; and they ate from where he ﷺ had eaten. When the untouched dish came down, they learned he ﷺ avoided garlic because “I speak to those you do not” (the angels).
Later
A lifelong warrior for Islam; he died in his old age during the siege of Constantinople and is buried there. (Beyond EP 030 — added for continuity.)
