Key takeaways

• Ease after hardship. The Isra’ & Mi’raj came right after the Year of Sorrow and Ta’if — a personal gift proving the unseen real, and the vehicle for legislating the five prayers (50→5), the only command received in the heavens.
• Seeds, not spectacle. The Prophet ﷺ gave equal, sincere da’wah to a tribeless group of six Khazraj — and from them Allah raised the first Islamic republic. Never trivialise any opportunity for good.
• Two pledges, two purposes. The First was faith and morality (the Pledge of the Women); the Second added defensive protection — the political charter of Madinah, sealed by “My blood is your blood.”
• Tawakkul is effort + trust. The Hijra is the model: total preparation (decoy, cave, guide, erased tracks) then total reliance — “tie your camel, then trust Allah.” Abu Bakr’s companionship is affirmed in the Quran (9:40).
• A city prepared by providence. Bu’ath cleared the old leadership; Jewish talk of an awaited prophet primed the Aws & Khazraj; the Prophet’s ﷺ own blood tie ran through the Banu al-Najjar. Yathrib became Madinah, the second Haram.
• The mosque before the house. The first act in Madinah was to build Masjid al-Nabawi — worship and community before personal comfort.

Reliability notes (schema §5)

• Isra’ & Mi’raj: mutawatir (40+ narrations) but hard to sequence; one journey (majority) vs two (al-Nawawi, Ibn Abi Jamra). Rejected: the winged Buraq, tashahhud as the divine conversation’s summary, and Ibn Hisham’s “some apostatised” (contradicts Bukhari via Abu Sufyan–Heraclius). He ﷺ saw the Veil of light, not Allah (A’ishah; majority) — Ibn Abbas read as a vision of the heart.
• Cave of Thawr: the spider’s web is the most authentic concealment report (Musnad Ahmad); the tree/pigeons are weaker; the bed-decoy and dust (Ibn Ishaq) lack isnad — affirmable, not asserted.
• The “tala’ al-badru” song did not occur at the Hijra (Thaniyat al-Wada’ is on the opposite, northern road) — at earliest after Tabuk (9 AH).
• Dates: Hijra departure Monday ~26/27 Safar, arrival Rabi’ al-Awwal, Sept 622 CE; Isra’ ~1 year before the Hijra (Khadijah died before salah was made fard).

• The exact chronology within al-Isra’ wal-Mi’raj (milk/wine and Bayt al-Ma’mur placed differently across authentic reports) — reconciled or left open by scholars.
• The origin of the three Jewish tribes of Yathrib (post-Jerusalem diaspora vs. Yemen; possibly Karaite) — Yasir Qadhi favours three separate migrations; genuinely unresolved.
• The precise month/day of both the Isra’ and the Hijra arrival (2nd vs 12th Rabi’ al-Awwal) — not preserved.
