A young chief of the Aws and close friend of Sa’d ibn Mu’adh, among the first great leaders of Yathrib to embrace Islam through Mus’ab ibn Umayr.

Known for the beauty of his recitation: angels descended to listen as he recited the Quran at night (Bukhari) — the Prophet ﷺ told him, “Those were angels drawing near to your recitation.”
