Ubada ibn al-Samit (ra)

A Khazraji Companion and one of the Ansar who witnessed both Pledges of Aqabah, and the narrator (in Bukhari) of the terms of the First Pledge.

Role in the Seerah (EP 025)

His report defines the First Pledge (the “Pledge of the Women”): “We pledged to worship Allah alone, not to steal, fornicate, kill our children, or disobey in what is right” — with the Prophet ﷺ promising reward from Allah for those who fulfil it and forgiveness for those who fall short and repent.

Banu Qaynuqa (EP 041–050)

At the Banu Qaynuqa expulsion, though they were his old Khazraji allies, Ubada publicly renounced his pact with them — choosing “Allah, His Messenger and the believers” (praised in Q 5:55–56) — in pointed contrast to Abdullah ibn Ubayy, who clung to the alliance.

A scholar-Companion who taught the Quran, later served under Umar and Uthman and helped judge in Syria and Egypt. (Beyond EP 030 — added for continuity.)
