Aminah bint Wahb

Mother of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, of the Banu Zuhra clan of Quraysh.
Identity & lineage
- Daughter of Wahb ibn Abd Manaf of Banu Zuhra; married Abdullah.
Role in the Seerah
- Gave birth to the Prophet ﷺ in Mecca after Abdullah’s death.
- Took the young Muhammad ﷺ to visit his maternal relatives in Yathrib.
Death
- Died at al-Abwa (between Mecca and Medina) on the return journey, when the Prophet ﷺ was about six; his care then passed to his grandfather Abd al-Muttalib.
